Our first chilly session in the woods today! We started with our game “1,2,3, where are you?” to keep us all warm.
I was very impressed with how well the group had remembered our safety rules, which they shared in our review session.
Today we learnt; how to put up a shelter using a rope tied between two trees and a tarpaulin. Then we worked on clearing the fire circle and collecting firewood. We looked for wood that ‘snapped’ as this means it is dry. We sorted the wood into small ‘kindling’ and larger pieces, which we have stored in bins, keeping it dry until we are ready to build a fire.
Great teamwork, excellent for keeping us dry and safe storage for our equipment.
The older children learnt about safety when using the bow saw. They had to listen carefully, follow instructions, communicate with each other and above all keep safe. They were all amazing.
