Spelling

At Bursledon, we use our very own programme, 'The Bursledon Spelling Programme' to teach spelling. This follows on from and builds on our successful Phonics programme, using a structured 4-part lesson to review, teach, practise and apply spelling rules and patterns. The video below shows an example of one of our spelling booklets, used both in lessons and at home. Our expectation is that these spellings are practised at home at least three times per week.
