School Libraries
Here at Bursledon, we take great pride in our exceptional library facilities, which play a pivotal role in fostering a love of reading and learning among our children. Both the Infant and Junior School are equipped with their own dedicated library, thoughtfully curated to support the diverse educational needs of our children.
Our libraries are wonderfully maintained by the fabulous Mrs Gough and brimming with a wealth of resources. They feature an extensive selection of different text types, authors, and genres, ensuring that all children can find literature that resonates with their interests and curiosities. From engaging picture books in the Infant library to a myriad of informational texts and fictional works in the Junior library, we are committed to promoting literacy in its many forms. Importantly, we ensure that our collections reflect diversity, representing voices and stories from a broad spectrum of cultures and backgrounds. This not only enriches our children's reading experiences but also fosters understanding and appreciation for global perspectives.
In addition to traditional text types, our Junior families also benefit from access to a cutting-edge online platform called SORA. This innovative tool allows them to explore a vast array of eBooks, comics, audiobooks, and works from a diverse range of acclaimed authors. The convenience of this digital library empowers children and their families to delve into their favourite stories or discover new ones at their own pace, supporting their individual reading journeys.
We believe that our libraries are not just spaces filled with books but hubs of creativity and exploration. By nurturing a vibrant reading culture, we equip our children with the skills and imagination necessary for their academic success and lifelong learning.
Please keep your eyes peeled for dates in the Spring Term where the libraries will be opening for parents and carers to visit with their children after school.
