Breakfast Club

Welcome to Bursledon Schools Breakfast Club.  We have been running our successful breakfast club for many years now.  The aim of it is to support pupils with a positive start to the day which is based on a flexible approach for parents/carers.

Places must be booked in advance via School Spider.  However, if you have never booked for breakfast club before you must complete the attached registration form and return to the school office. You will then be given access to book via School Spider and also to confirm any additional details that might be required such as dietary needs.

Breakfast Club Registration Form

The clubs for both schools are combined and are run together in the junior school hall.

The club runs from 7.45am until the start of the school day. It is £4.50 per session.

The club is managed by staff already employed in both our schools and they have excellent relationships and knowledge of the pupils.

Entry to the juniors is via the main front office door, where  you and your child will be greeted by a staff member, and again please ensure your child is registered with staff before you leave.  Your child will then be welcomed by a member of staff and offered breakfast.

Breakfast consists of fresh juice, tea, milk, cereals, toast, and quite often pancakes or waffles.

If you want your child to have breakfast at the club, please ensure they arrive before 08.15am - after this time we are not able to provide food.

Also it is vitally important that you advise us of any allergies or intolerances that your child may have. We appreciate that you will probably already have told the school about this, and they will have let breakfast club staff know.  However, to be absolutely safe, we would like you to talk to our breakfast club staff too about any issues that could affect your child.

After they have eaten, the children are then free to play in the hall - there are a range of activities to engage them with and we buy additional games or resources based on the children's interests.

At 8.30 the infant school pupils are escorted safely from the juniors directly into the rear of the infant school where they will be handed over to their respective teachers.  The junior school pupils are allowed to leave the junior hall and make their way to their own classes as that time.

Breakfast club sessions must be booked and paid for in advance otherwise your child will not be allowed to attend.  We have a number of ways that you can pay:

  • Online – as soon as you enrol your child for breakfast club, it will show up on your School Spider account as a product for you to book sessions and pay by card.
  • Childcare Voucher schemes including HMRC Tax free childcare scheme.  Your employer may offer you a voucher scheme.  They will advise you how to enrol on the scheme. We currently take vouchers from Edenred, Computershare, Fideliti, and Bravo Benefits, as well as HMRC.  If you are planning to use vouchers please let our office know as we need the reference numbers.  You will also need to upload Voucher information into School Spider for you to be able to use this against bookings.
  • If you need to know anything more about the Breakfast club or how to pay please email the office: info@bursledonschools.co.uk

Windmills (After school club)

We are a club run by school staff and will follow the school’s values of love, respect, aspire. Offering a 2 tier school care option:

3:00-4:45pm, without dinner £8.00

3:00-6:00pm, with dinner £12.00

You will be able to book your child into the option you prefer on School Spider.

After School Club begins when school ends and runs up until 6pm. The club will operate five days a week,  term time only. The club runs from the Infant hall, with junior school children being escorted from their school to the infants at the end of the school day. Parents can collect from the after-school club at any time from school finish until 6pm. Your child will not be able to leave with anyone that is not listed as a collector.

What do we offer the children?
The club aims to provide a safe, fun and relacing place for children of all ages to enjoy carefully planned activities led by an experienced childcare practitioner. A variety of equipment and resources will be available in order to facilitate the activities. Each day and each week will differ with opportunities for those children who want to work on their home-work also being catered for.
Both schools have an exciting after school extra-curricular timetable (not Windmills) planned for each half term – so if your child wishes to be involved in these additional activities - arrangements can be made for them to attend those too and then join in with Windmills afterwards.
The meal provided will consist of two courses and will vary again from day to day and week to week. Menus will be available at the start of each half term. Any dietary requirements or individual requirements will be within reason, catered for. However, all allergy and special needs must be advised in writing to Windmills in advance and when booking a place. A vegetarian option can be offered to.
Sessions– payable in advance. Most childcare vouchers are accepted as well as HMRC tax free vouchers. Please advise us when booking that you will be paying by vouchers. To Register for a place for our Windmill Club please fill out the attached registration form and return to the school office .  You will not be able to book a place via School Spider until your registration has been completed.
Bookings can be made up to two months in advance. Providing that there are spaces available, adhoc bookings will be able to be taken at short notice.
Please note that failure to collect your child by their finish time will incur an initial warning and if lateness occurs a second time within a school year will incur a £10 late pick up charge.
